MAUSTON, WI.—The VARC Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, held on October 17, 2025, serves as a shining example of the impact that can be achieved when a community comes together for a worthy and prevalent cause. Raising both money and spirits, this walk proved to be another way that VARC is helping to make a positive difference in the communities it serves, one step at a time.
The weather was beautiful for clients and staff at VARC, attracting folks from across the VARC's southern Wisconsin locations. On their route through Mauston proper, walkers wore coordinated pink and black t-shirts and brandished colorful, hand-made signs bearing positive slogans in support of finding a cure. Once the group arrived at the Riverside Park Pavilion, participants enjoyed a celebratory meal at the picnic tables and came together for a great group photo.

Event organizers and Elizabeth Filter (President & CEO of VARC) proudly presented a check of the proceeds to representatives of the Mile Bluff Medical Center Foundation, demonstrating VARC's support for ending breast cancer for good. Building on years of success, the organization plans to host another Breast Cancer Awareness walk in the fall of 2026.
We are grateful to the community for their participation and support in our endeavor to end breast cancer—your efforts made a difference, and the clients deeply appreciated it.
